Not much going on this weekend

Yesterday afternoon I went to catch the bus to Clairview. It was a nice afternoon. I got to the front of the train and read for a bit. The idea was to get out near the escalator at Corona, up to the street level and go to Audrey’s for a book. I decided to get the “Star Wars New Jedi Order #1” Even though it’s YA I decided to pick it up anyway just to cut down on my order. I’ve got 4 books there for me at the special order desk. I worked my way to the office more or less happy with my purchase.

In the drugstore I went and got a bag of cheese pleasers for Smackdown and got my dialer. M came in shortly after that and got me the referral card. Its just a regular business card with Manpower’s website address but apparently the job wants to hire through Manpower. I’ll access it this weekend and find a phone number and take it from there. Apparently there is a test on the training material at the end of the 3rd week and its $14/hr not $15. What I like is obviously the money but also better job “security” your own hours and it’s an inbound call center. While the potential applicant is being trained the trainee is being paid weekly. Hopefully I can call manpower up on Monday go in Tuesday and get an interview for the job on Wednesday and maybe start next Monday. But wait, Tuesday is Remembrance day. A rare weekday stat holliday. The idea is to work Monday-Friday, 12-4 inbound, and 5-9 at my current job and do this only Monday-Friday and I’ll have Saturday off. This way when the DNC list boots my company out of the telemarketing game I’ll have something to fall back on. My current job is not sustainable.

The job itself last night wasn’t bad but slow. We had 11 tap shooters. I think 4 of them went home at 7pm. Lev joined me at 7 after M left. My total at the end of the night was $375 and 1 CC. Anne called around 8:20pm and I still hadn’t received my cheque. I had to ask for it twice. And everyone got paid yesterday. If I get the other job my cheque is direct bank deposit, which I like, no more begging for my cheque.

This morning I’m out of here at 9am for the job. The first half on a Saturday goes by really fast. It’s the 2nd half that drags on. But after that, I’m going to try and get a nap when I come home and maybe play some online Poker. I’ve been watching that lately on TV and I'm getting into it.

Not much is going on this evening so it will give me a chance to get some piano practicing and some writing. I'll be following the Eskimo's at Winnipeg, see how they do and Sunday late afternoon the Oilers are in NJ. I want to work on the Blues scale and some more songs from my songbook. I learned “Goodnight ladies,” and now I want to learn “Kum Ba Yah.” I’ve got the notes laid out and the midi file to work with.
