Treadmil Thursdays

I woke up suddenly about 9:30am this morning. I had that Ms call to make after 9am. These “councilors” or whatever their job description is beyond switchboard are very elusive. All you get is voice mail and they never return their calls. Training is Dec.1st. Monday is fast approaching.

Last night I left out of here reading Fast Forward #1 Or FF. The first story seemed to drag a bit but it’s picking up. There are 20 stories within these pages. Hopefully I can finish this by the middle of December. I read again to the end of the line and back and wondered in the office shortly around 4:50pm. Another reasonably mild day and all the markets were up. I got my dialer and Rob was there to address the troops. He brought over some cold callers to fill in the tap shooter ranks because at the end of this month were going to lose the last of our East Indian contingent. One of them left Friday. Too bad, I liked Shank. The first half we did BP. It was a struggle. The 2nd half Rob put us on CRF semies and it was even worse of a struggle. The front 20 burned a lot of our tap source. The Oiler/LA game was the only bright spot on the evening when it started at 8pm. We had that on and the score was 1-1. Rob had to pull the plug on our tap source no thanks in part to the new people. In the 2nd half I had nothing. No sales what so ever. I wasn’t the only one but even newer people that have been with us for 6 months were getting sales on CRF and I’ve done this campaign before. I chalked my miserable evening to a Wednesday night and hauled out of there with my $190 total. No CC sales at all. It was a dismal evening and I was glad to get out of the office and bury my nose in my book on the train for home,

The 3rd period of the hockey game was just underway at 10pm when Anne called. At least the phone is working. She was having a slow night as well. The Oiler’s were playing terrible. They haven’t won a Home game in like 5 games now. Unless they go on a winning streak things aren’t looking good for the Oiler fans at Rexall place the moment. After the game and the Oiler’s losing 2-1, I had my supper and waited for my wife to come home. I don’t like her being on the train after midnight.

Anne came wondering in about 12:30am and she brought Boots in from outside. I was trying to figure how to resize the Amazon book cover image to get rid of all that white space on the sides but couldn‘t figure out how to edit the image. Picasa was no help and Gimp offered nothing. I’ll figure something out. Even the smaller Amazon book cover images had the white space on the sides. It’s most likely something they’ve done at Amazon.

I don’t know what I’m going to do here as far as my current job woes go. I don’t want to be trapped in this stagnant wage I’m in now. And it took me 8 years to get to this level. I was hoping to get hired on at Ms for the ICC job but since their training isn’t until Monday, my hopes are fading fast that I’ll get this job. What made it nice was even part time staff got benefits after 3 months. I can’t even get past switchboard at Ms little alone talk to F. I’m resigned to this crappy wage trap and I can’t seem to rise above the muck. So far my experience with Ms is pathetic. How do people get jobs with them? Maybe you need to submit the resume in directly and go in the back door. I don’t know. My wife said, “come work for Pizza.” It’s the same current wage trap I’m already in. “oh right.” They’re having their slow times as well at the moment. So far my wife on her job hasn’t been sent home yet. The other thing I’m worried about is our local economy and even my own job status at where I work. Is this the top of the food chain for me? As high as I’m ever going to get? I wonder if I shouldn’t just get out of this dead end call center crap and maybe go into security or something else that isn’t telemarketing. Being a Security guard pays a few dollars more and if I get the right arrangement I can read a lot and maybe even bring in a laptop.

The bright spot on the economic picture is the markets are moving up. Even oil yesterday closed out about $55. Right now it’s down only a few cents. If oil can fluctuate between $50-60 dollars between now and the spring and go up in the spring, great.

Sunday Anne’s sister Donna is coming for a visit and wants to take us out to dinner. We have our staff party at Rosario’s this year. I’m hoping I can get out of Xl by the end of the year or early in the new year. I’m looking forward to Sunday with my wife and her sister. So far 2008 has been a washout year. The only good thing about 2008 was contacting my family on Facebook and hearing about Alfred., and of course learning how to play piano. Other then that, 2008 was boring. My wife went through 2 jobs we lost a budgie bird, I suppose the only positive thing about 08 was the above and learning about NonCon this week. Other wise my wife and I got out of ‘08 alive.

Anyway Bloggers, that‘s all for now.
