Anne found my balaclava, yeaaaa! I packed everything up and headed into work soar tooth and all. I must have missed the last bus though. I read “Helix” on the train in feeling a bit better. At the main floor pharmacy I bought a 6/49 lottery ticket. Wednesday’s draw is worth $14M! Yeah right. I went upstairs and got to my dialer. I gave Greg the $20 for JT for today as I’m not in for New Years eve.
I had a slow start to CBF but things picked up and I had a couple of CC’s and $730 by break no less, wow. For some reason the Oiler’s/Sens game was on at 8pm but wasn’t able to get under way. WTF? Why the delay? The 2nd half I was just flying writing up sales. I ended up with $1,035 and 3 CC sales for top total of the night. That’s what I call going out with a bang. The only time I reloaded taps was when we did OTH and that slowed me down until the end of the shift as I was packing up my stuff until home time.
I said my happy “New Year’s” shook hands and quietly left the building as the game was tied at 1. A hurried walk in the cold air helped my soar tooth a lot. I felt better heading home in the cold-crisp 9:20 evening air. Even at -25C with little wind, it wasn’t that bad out there. Once home, I was able to watch all of the 3rd period of the hockey game and it was tied at 2. Anne had made some meatloaf and mash potato, veggies, nice. Sens won 3-2. It was a weird game night. For half an hour before the game (I learned later on the news) Rexall place had a computer glitch and there was just safe mode back-up lighting available making everything twilight in the building. Both teams had to go back to their dressing rooms until maintenance sorted things out.
Anne was out on the balcony getting some air longing for Boots. God knows what happened to him. She came in all excited smiling because she spotted Boots by the tree below in the snow! She was all excited like and got dressed to go out for a Boots rescue. She buzzed up and we got him back. We both feel a lot better. How he survived out there in the cold, God only knows.
Today, Anne is off to her job at 4pm. It’s mandatory for where she works that all staff be there for their busiest time of the year. I’ll be working on that short story today when I get up all afternoon and again New Years day, take a break and watch the Oiler’s at Calgary game. After that about 11:30pm it’s off to catch a bus to Clairview station, downtown to meet Anne. She’ll be on the elevator on her way down to meet me at the end of her shift leaving for home, as the City will be launching their “First Night” fireworks. We might be able to see bits and pieces of the fireworks in between buildings working our way in the downtown core for Churchill square park, but we’ll certainly hear them. We’ll hang around for awhile, then we’ll catch the train home. Anne has some pre cooked pizza for us to celebrate New Years 2009 when we get back home. That’ll be about 1am tomorrow morning.
I go back into work Friday night, get my cheque and go in for Saturday get the last couple of books at Audrey’s and hopefully I’ll have enough funds for my website. Get that bill out of the way. Saturday night is another Oiler’s/Dallas game. Should be a good one.
This will most likely be my last blog entry for 2008 folks, so to all those that left comments, to all those that have subscribed and read this blog faithfully I appreciate you so much for making my daily antics a part of your blogging experience, and have a very happy New Year. The best is yet to come. That being said, I’ll see all of you right here in 2009.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now
