At least the weather is nice |
|
Arriving to cross the street just outside the office at least the City got the streets cleaned off. I was kind of “late” getting in but got my usual dialer. We had a full house of tap shooters etc. Greg put on the Oiler’s at Minneapolis game. I had a good start but sales were slow and hard to come by all night. The Oiler’s ended up losing 5-1. I got my cheque and headed out to catch my bus and barely caught it in time. I did my banking and was able to catch my regular 9:30pm train even though it was on a bit of a later track. I ended up with $655 and 2 CC sales as well.
I was able to get some good reading of “Runner” in on the train home tonight. The writing is good but I’m finding it awkward somehow. Although the writing in “Runner” is somewhat accessible it’s not as accessible as it could be.
When I got inside I banged my boots off of slush and snow and when getting everything hung up and put away, I could hear “The Clash” on TV. What the hell? “Honey?” “I thought you’d like this,” It was the documentary movie called “Joe Strummer: The Future is unwritten.” It was half in progress. Anne made me some nice corn beef hash, hash browns and eggs. I enjoyed that and watched a bit of news until it came on again and I was able to watch the whole thing. Good stuff. That took me up until about 1am. I didn’t get a chance to watch much news at all today so I’m not away too much of the markets. In Ottawa Harper is fleshing out his $30B stimulus package. Most of this is going to get absorbed in the auto industry or special interest groups like aboriginal housing and stuff. I don’t have a problem with that . What I have a problem is that this stimulus package what amount to very much if every single special interest group and his dog gets their share. It’s going to be spread so thin, it wont accomplish anything. I do like some of the proposed EI changes especially for older workers about to lose jobs before going into early retirement. The budget is going to be released in about 11 days and no matter what Harper does this fucking Coalitions opposition is going to bring it down, proposing a non confidence vote and we’ll be going to the polls again. Most likely in April sometime. Canadian politics sucks.
Now that the nice weather has arrived the City is beginning to clear away some of the snow off the streets. I’m going to hear that beeping sound all friggin night long now………….………Uggh, my cryptic comment for today. Anne said she got the referral bonus in from L. He gets $50 and my Lodge gets $50. If L stays until March, they get $250 to split between them. Between my wife and L, hr place of employment is getting some excellent people.
This afternoon as we speak Glen Anderson is being honored by the City of Edmonton for helping to bring 5 Stanley Cups here in the 1980’s. I think he won a 6th Cup with New York Rangers as well in 1994. But his Glory days were with Edmonton. This Sunday is the official banner raising ceremony to the rafters. Edmonton Oiler’s history in the making.
So next week I’ll have enough for my website and by the end of the month, enough for my Lodge dues. Good stuff.
I didn’t get much sleep over night. I kept on getting up almost every hour on the hour to pee, which is really strange. That and Anne had to roll around a few times. I feel like crap and all I want to do is go to bed but I’ve got a job to do tonight and I also want to get the last of those 2 Star Wars “New Jedi Order” books that have been sitting there for the last month or so just to get them out of the way. I’m not even going to watch ECW tonight, I’m just going strait to bed after Smackdown.
Other then that I’m onto my first coffee. At least the weather has significantly improved. It’s +7C out there now. That’s pretty good for us for this time of year.
Anyway Bloggers, that’s all for now.
