I got March on my mind. |
|
I had an entry already to go for yesterday’s blog but ran out of time to post it. It was bitingly cold out there Tuesday afternoon going into work. I was feeling rundown and lethargic, my bones felt brittle and aching. I read for a bit on the way to Corona and walked through the snow covered parkade to work. Once settled down I got to work on the cans and bottles. JT sat with me for the first half and we had a good time returning to OTH what with March being around the corner. The game is March 18th. I made anther pass at the bottles and cans in the 2nd half. Then the Oiler/Tampa bay hockey game. I caught a lot of the scores and plays and ended up with $415 and 1 CC sale. My total was the top total, again.
I left out of the office feeling ok and headed across the parkade in the snow and wind. Very cold. I got to the Corona platform and read more from my book. The new trains are running again. Getting off at Clairview station I confirmed the score on the game, Oiler’s 5 TB 3. I felt good about that.
When I got off the bus with my bag of bottles and cans in the freezing wind and snow I began looking for Boots. I walked down by the back tree, then around by the front and down by the garbage bins. He Didn’t answer. He must have felt pretty cold out there all day. There was no sign of Boots even in the back parking lot. I headed back through the back door of the building and doubled back around inside to the front warming up as I headed back to the front entrance. I took one last look around for Boots but he still didn’t answer. I got inside to catch the aftermath of the game and figured I had an hour before Anne got home from having a rare Tuesday night on the job to play Oblivion.
For some reason I’m in constant stealth mode and none of the NPC characters will “talk” to me when I approach them. It’s hard to get quests accomplished when the NPC’s wont talk to you. In one screen showing how many fame points or items stolen you have, I decided that it might be because of the items stolen I have on my possession could account for me being in constant stealth mode. Not even my toggle switch would work. Dropping all those stolen items still showed my items listed as stolen. I’m looking for some hints online. Apparently I’ve been using the thumb control in the wrong way.
Also during the first half of the shift somebody has been leaving the monitors on the sci-fi channel. I was able to catch a good part of Stargate Atlantis. I couldn’t tell you which episode it was, since I Haven’t seen all the shows. I know about the SG-1 anthology and it’s a huge anthology covering all 10 seasons with all 214 episodes. I liked the premise of Stargate SG-1. Stargate Atlantis is still going strong after 5 seasons.
I did some back checking earlier missing the markets on the local news and the DJIA for December 2008 was something like 13,000 points in about June of last year. Now it’s about 7,300. There bear is back in town.
Anne left out of here about 11am to meet her sister at the international airport. She made me a hot hamburger something to reheat for my lunch in about an hour. She said she’d call me before I left for work.
I didn’t get to bed until about 5am this morning, discovering how the controls for work on my Xbox 360 for Oblivion/stealth mode. I knew it had to be a controller issue. I went back to an earlier game and tried it out. I’m out of stealth mode and NPC’s are back talking to me again. I press down on the left thumb stick to get in and out of stealth mode. I press on the right to get in and out of first person. I like 2nd person while roaming outside but first person view while in dungeons.
We’re in the deep freeze again folks but it’s only for a short time. Right now it’s -20C/-28C wind chill. It’s pretty cold out there but we have today overnight and Thursday and Friday. Back to a bit warmer conditions after the weekend. Just to give you an idea how cold it is now at 2pm in the afternoon (and we’ve had it colder here before then this) here’s a photo I just took of my office window. That’s ice on the outside windowpane.
Anne let Boots out Sunday night as we were watching “The Honeymooners.” At that time, 11:30pm it wasn’t snowing and the weather was relatively pleasant. -6C and overnight, -10C. Because it gets so hot in here we had the balcony sliding doors open so Boots could come in and out. He was doing that just fine. Then while I was on the computer here I got the word that Boots had jumped off the balcony. At this time we knew the temperature was about to change but Anne figured if it got to cold, she’d put her coat and footwear and go out around the parameter of the building looking for him. Usually she calls and Boots followers her into the double front doors and up the stairwell to our 2nd floor. Boots waits outside (unknowingly to him) as my wife gets the other cats and puts them in my office or the bedroom. But over the last several nights now we haven’t been able to find Boots out there. He’s been gone for long spells before but not in weather like this. This morning Anne was looking out the balcony window and could see fresh cat prints in the snow. She went out several times calling and looking for him. She knows he’s out there. Poor Boots. If he can get through this, then we know where ever he is in the future out here, he’ll be alright.
Still reading “Logos run” gang. I should have it finished by Saturday. Then I can go on to Timothy Zahn. I don’t know, is it just me or are there too many books with Stargate themes lately? After “The third lynx” I’m reading an Everquest book “The Blood red harp.” once I read Logos run, I’ll have a new book in the reading queue.
Anyway, gang that’s all for now.
