I left out of here at 4pm after shutting everything down. At the drugstore I got a candy bar for latter, chocolate raisins. I paid DC and we bet on the game last night. I collected my bottles and cans. Super had me sit in Pat’s old dialer. I had 2 CC sales by break. G put my missed $20 from last week on the attendance sheet. Plus I got a $10 bonus tonight. We’ll see if I get it next Friday. At 8pm I was tired but no worse for wear. I ended up with something like $375. Mostly doing semies for 3 CC’s. Not to badly.

After work I got to Audrey’s. T said nothing was there for me at the special order desk. I began to place an order but the Pier’s Anthony’s “Chro Magic” series was in print on demand format. That meant pricier books then usual. I then went for Elizabeth Haydon’s “Rhapsody” series but the Omnibus was in boxed format. I turned it down. Onto Larry Niven and his “The magic goes away” Omnibus but it’s in a text book format. I wasn’t having any luck. I decided to order the Haydon boxed set and I went down to see what was in the shelves. They had Steven Erikson’s “Malazan” series in. Why I missed this I had no idea. This looks like it’s going to be as vast a series as Terry Goodkinds’s “Sword of Truth.” The books are very large and there’s 9 so far in the series. Book 7 is there and it’s about 1,200 pages. I ordered the next three in the series.

I got my train with little waiting at Corona and home by about 9:30pm to watch the last of the Oiler’s at Anaheim game. It was 4-2 Oiler’s in the 2nd, My eye’s lit up. In the 3rd Anaheim scored and was poring it on. The Oiler’s stole the game 4-3. Roli had 53 shots against him. The Oiler’s are now back in 7th and they play Minneapolis here at Rexall Sunday. Good stuff and there’s 8 games left in the season. Some highlights from last night’s game: Penner and Brodziak keyed up a shot to score a goal in 6 seconds. The last time that happened was in 1981 with Gretzky but I seem to recall Chris Pronger doing this in 3 seconds with the Oiler’s in that great playoff finale of 2006. That was the last time the Oiler’s made the playoffs but look at the team they had then. Most of those players are gone, Smyth, Pronger, Bergeron, Peka and they did it without Roli. If Roli wasn’t injured arguably they would have won the Cup in that year.

I had to take the meat loaf out of the fridge 9:30pm to let it sit for half an hour. Anne came home at her usual Friday night time as I was flip flopping between news and Smackdown. Anne made us dinner and Smackdown went overtime to 12:30pm so I missed the first half of ECW and I went to bed listening to Coast talking about Angels and Unicorns, ok.

I decided this week that I’m not able to do any floor work at the Lodge for the FC prove up even though this is going to be another month away, I don’t think I can do it justice if I took it on. Probably for the one in the fall, I can study this over the summer in that case. It’s a fairly big project for me to take on in such a short notice.

I’ve been doing some interesting JFK “research” regarding one of the peripheral characters in the case. For years I thought the character in question was always the last name at the time of the assassination weekend. It was the last name at the time of the HSCA. This person was known under a different name during the assassination weekend. Kind of neat when the lights come on when that kind of thing happens.

During last night’s shift, again we had 7 tap shooters and maybe they had 15 on the back 21. Lot’s of people don’t show up on Friday nights so we had a short shift. This is just as well. I kind of like nights like that. Reminds me of last year when the economy was good. It’s still good now but a lot better last year.

I’m seriously thinking about taking on another part time job in case this one goes under or I’m let go for one reason or another. I need something to fall back on and I’d like to take on a security guard job of some kind as I’ve been mentioning before. I worked at 2 different guard companies here in Edmonton, WH (1978, 1994) and Innertec ( 1999-2000), now long gone. With WH I was at the Pacific Rim mall location. It was a good location and 3 days/week wasn’t bad. Think of all the books I could read and all the writing I can do. This would require me to change my shift around a bit. I don’t think WH would work anymore for me but working on the weekends would be just right. Say, Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. I’d work my regular job, Monday (7 hours), Tuesday Wednesday and Friday nights for 27 hours. I’d have Thursday nights off for Lodge nights. No more Saturday mornings. I have a guard company in mind as well but right now I’m just speculating. It‘s not about the hours it‘s about having a back up plan.

This morning I’m out there at 9am. it’s in for 4 hours and home. Lately I Haven’t been able to sleep very much in the afternoon when I get home from a Saturday afternoon. But after work I’ll get our 6/49 ticket and home. If I can’t sleep and I’ll try, I’ll end up playing Oblivion for a few hours.
