Another Spring like Monday upon us. |
|
This week is a short week what with Good Friday being a stat holiday. I’m going to go in for Saturday morning this way I get my stat pay and I’m going to take 2 days off for East Sunday and Monday.
Last nights Wrestlemania wasn’t that bad. I’d rate it an 8/10. The match that was, wasn’t. By that I mean the feud going on between Triple H and Randy Orton. WWE was escalating this story line for weeks and then when the big moment came, it was just an ordinary match like any other. What happened? What a let down. The other matches were great. The match of the year was Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker, which in my opinion stole the show. I didn’t even see the unified tag team champion. Of course I missed 20 minutes but that was mostly technical trouble from our end. The money in the bank match, which I joined in progress was great. Apparently the unified tag team championship happened off air. I didn’t watch “Countdown” and most likely that’s when it happened. Seems the Colon brothers won the unified championship.
I go in for my Monday night shift this afternoon as usual put my 4 hours in and come home to watch Monday night Raw. Should be a good show tonight.
Rant alert: SF Signal is talking about first run movies and the cost to go out to see these things. Especially in this economy. First run movies cost something like $12 bucks. Who’d want to pay $12 to see “I love you man.” or for that matter even “12 rounds with John Cena?” Total expense for 2 people to see a 1st release movie is about $25 including tax. That’s not to mention popcorn pop and other treats. That’s about $30 bucks easy. $30 bucks can buy us a weeks groceries. The last first run movie I went to see was “Scorpion King” with The Rock and it wasn‘t all that great of a movie and that was about 7 years ago. Not only that but we have a new Xbox 360 and a 42” LCD TV, full cable, Internet and video on demand, PPV etc. I’d rather read a book then go to a first run movie. And just how many 1st run SFF movies does Hollywood put out/year for the big screen? Maybe 2-3? These I can see if I really want to at the dollar theater. The theater we go to is stadium seating, within walking distance and we can go to all kinds of restaurants and fast food nearby after the movie. We like to go to the Sunday late night showing where we share the theater with about 6 other people. And if there’s something we really want to see, we’ll order a PPV or video on demand from our cable service provider. Who needs first run movies. Maybe it’s people with my attitude that could spell the death null for Hollywood but for God sake, give me something I’d like to see. I refuse to see something like “I love you man.” Is that all Hollywood has left in the tank?
In keeping with the theme above and Wrestling, the WWE stock has been performing other entertainment companies. Last night in Houston they had 70,144 in attendance and that doesn’t count for the millions of people like me watching at home. Meanwhile the Walt Disney franchise is laying off almost 2,000 people in the front office world wide. Movies like “I love you man” barely pulled in $50K last week. Give me something I want to see and maybe I’ll pay $12 for it, maybe.
Again sorry for the lack of editing this post today. I'll clean it up after Raw tonight.
Anyway gang, that’s all for now
