Snowing, again?

At this hour, sure is. Yesterday wasn’t bad. I left out of here after shutting everything down. I brought $50 in cash with me and change and my 6/49 ticket from Wednesday’s draw. I was kind of tied up Thursday to take care of it. My bus came by right on time. I checked with the guy at the Redimart about my extra win. Nope. He gave me a printout and the Xtra for today didn’t match. So I tossed the ticket away. Much later I realized after checking the Extra (Western) was something he drew out each day. My extra number for the 22nd was about 2 days ago, which he didn’t look for. You got to be real careful with this guy. I mean it’s only $2 but it’s a 6/49 win.

So I got a bottle of diet Coke and read for a bit on BRH. Not one to be a spoiler but our cast of characters where I’m reading are in the Orc mines.

This is really a good book.

I bought another 6/49 ticket at the Drugstore. I don’t trust the Redimart anymore for tickets. The draw is for tonight at $22M. Usually it’s a group of people who win the big draws. I’d be happy with 2nd or even 3rd place.

Lucian was following Greg to the reception desk (cheques) and I tagged along for mine. No $10 bonus from last week but at least all my hours were correct. Unlike some. I collected a lot of bottles and cans. So I got my seat and the first 5 dialers up to me were taps. CDIH. I had I think about $350 by break and a CC sale. I collected more bottles and cans and in the 2nd half I got 2 more CC sales for something like $515. So far that’s 9 CC sales this week. They want 23 for anyone working part time. They used to pay bonuses for CC’s but now that’s only if you meet your quota. Rob did this to cut down on CC bonuses because he was paying out too much money. This only counts for tap shooters. Dave R got 2 $500 CC sales off of semies lat week and that was one of the reasons why Rob did this extra bit of tinkering with the CC’s for tap shooters. I ate my sandwiches as the calls were coming in rather slow. I was kind of off to myself and that’s how I like it because it got me a chance to read a few pages from BRH in between calls. Where my wife works some days she can go 5-10 minutes with out a call. I still ask for the CC sale because it’s part of my job to ask. I worked out the rest of the shift with one ting on my mind: Going back over to Audrey’s for that “Symphony of ages” boxed set by Elizabeth Haydon.

I packed up my things shortly before the end of the shift and without preamble took off for Audrey’s special order desk. I have Steven Erikson’s book 1 of his “Malazan” series and the next 4 Jedi books. I had a nice chat with one of the staff at the counter on my way out and headed towards my bus stop to get my #5 up to my bank. Normally I’m there on a Thursday night but it being a Friday felt kind of different. I needed a bathroom really bad at this point. I had a ten minute wait or so. One of the 2 ABM’s was out of order but I did my business hurried for the LRT at Central and after a 10 minute wait there.

Home at last and I flew into the bathroom. After attempting to get comfortable and getting settled I was able to check my bsl, at 7.7 and then watch a bit of Smackdown until the news. Anne came in and I wanted to tell her why I had the cell phone shut off because she had the ringtone and vibration on at the same time. That wouldn’t work in this new climate of no cell phones on at our work station. I had her phone on from the time I got out of the office and onto the street until she got home.

Anne made me a nice lunch while I was watching ECW and I was exhausted by this time. Then we heard this banging coming, from below? WTF? Oh one of those again. For what because we’re opening and closing doors in our own apartment? I didn’t get much sleep over night after that, if any. I think the people underneath us were responding to our movements in my office because the carpet is worn down almost to the floorboards. We’re not noisy people. Except when Anne’s fighting with me over one damn thing or another.

Okay this morning I’ll be heading to Tim’s for my breakfast and then into the office for my 10-2 Saturday shift. If I’m feeling up to it, I’d like to run up to get my haircut by Walmart. Anne’s got a $5 off coupon and I can go next door and get some McDonald’s. I get a McD as I call them, maybe once or twice a year if that. Then home, hopefully to have a nap and catch the Chicago Calgary game on tonight. Go Hawks Go. Sorry Calgary but my father was a Hawks fan in the 1960’s, so there is that family connection. Not that I have anything against Calgary. I had good times there on more then ahem, one occasion.

Anyway gang, that’s all for now

e. Jim
