Wednesday's ugh |
|
When I left out of here it was pretty cold out there. I think the high today was a +3. I got the train and read some more on the way in. No headaches for me last night, thank God. I got half the bottles and cans I normally would get because most of the tap shooters were on the other side closet to business where Fran works and she collects the empties after the 4pm shift. Work went fairly well doing ASB. I think I did ok. Of course I never get any recognition for what I do. Last fall I did $1,800+ in taps in a 4 hour shift and I got no recognition for it. Now I’m not a boat rocker but at the same time I shouldn’t have to feel that I can be taken advantage of either.
Even though I was glad to get out of there I had a fairly good night I got 2 CC’s and $465 in sales from working a dead campaign and that was I think the top total for the room. I was all packed up but they kept us a little later then usual. I got out the door in a hurry and just missed my 9:05pm train as it pulled out of Corona. Rats. But I was able to stretch out a bit and get some of the kinks out of my back and read a bit waiting for my train. I got home at about 9:45pm meeting my wife coming across the street to meet me. I read for about an hour and I‘m closing in on the half way point of “The Legend that was Earth.” It’s kind of like a Sci-fi Spy novel with aliens but it’s pretty good. I hope to finish it after this weekend. As much as I’m enjoying this book, I ’d like to get onto the next one.…….1:50pm> Just before bed last night/earlier this morning I had a small cup of warm milk. We listened to a bit of Coast with Richard C Hoagland talking about this latest shuttle mission to repair the Hubble space telescope.
What’s interesting about this mission is the shuttle will be going through a heavy space junk area quite possibly risking the shuttle to a disaster. I think this whole mission is risky considering where the crew has to go but Hoagland doesn’t seem concerned. I’m probably overreacting but it bothers me somehow. The ISS takes these risks every day but NASA usually steers the space station away from space junk but it wasn’t that long ago in March a piece of debris came dangerously close to the ISS and the crew had to rush for the escape pod. The space station has had to dodge space junk 8 times in 8 years. There are approximately 17,000 pieces of identified space junk larger then 10cm or about 6 inches. There a many tens of thousands of more pieces of space junk ranging from paint chips to nuts and bolts.
Tonight it’s off to the job thing for another 4 hours. Ugh. Anne leaves out of here to start at 4pm-11pm and they cut her back by an hour today. I’d like to go into the office for tomorrow to make up for what Anne loses and for missing Monday. And finally to round out the day a cut cat photo. This is of Sporty and Sparky. The 2 brothers. They’ve just finished cleaning each other or waiting for that guy with the camera to get out of their face.
Anyway gang, that’s all for now
