Not overly busy but working through the week

I headed out to the job after Anne and I forgot my bottle of pop. Rats. Before the shift I got the empties and found and end dialer but Super asked me to go in the back. Ok. I got two CC sales for a total of $55 and $105 in the first half. I think my total out of 4 of us was the top total by break. Then I got some more empties and filled my bag as Super moved us to the other side. I ended up with $235 and the two CC sales. I was feeling pretty good leaving heading towards Corona to catch my train. I read more from “Legend” on the way home. Anne was right on my but not more then a few minutes behind me.

In the news this evening what with GM dealerships being closed across the US and here in Canada, some good news: That big $49M draw I kept mentioning about, the 3rd largest in lotto 6/49 history was won right here in Edmonton! Wow. And it was all won on a single ticket. Somebody here in the City is happy. I know none of my numbers even came close to one number little alone the extra. One of the other fellows at work showed me his numbers and he didn’t win. Danny plays and I’ll know latter today if it was his ticket that won. But this just goes to show that first we had the largest ever winner in 2005 that won $56M just in Camrose, then there was a winner just this year in January just outside of the City in Mounrville a woman won $7M. So it goes to show that not all of the winners are from Eastern Canada. But man, the $49M draw really hits close to home. Somebody here in Edmonton is really excited tonight. Somebody wont get any sleep tonight. Just thinking how close this was to home gets me excited. I wonder if its anyone I know? Saturdays draw is $4M. I’m buying a ticket. Also, 14 people won $293,000. Our local news later today will be giving away the location where the ticket was purchased from. I usually get my ticket at the pharmacy where I work or the Clairview Redimart. What if it was one of those 2 locations?

In other news oil pushed over the $61/barrel mark yet the Dow is still barely under 8500 points. Bad news is here in Canada as I began above is GM is closing 245 Dealerships. In the US GM is closing down 1200 and in the fall GM Canada will be closing down another 40% of it’s dealerships after this round. The ripple effect of this in itself will be huge……………10:20pm> More info on the 6/49 jackpot. It wasn’t won by one person but rather won by 13 winners at the Alberta Treasury Branch bank on Jasper Ave. Good for them. As long as the money doesn’t leave Alberta for people back home and that sort of thing. The first year it’s tax free then after that you pay taxes on the interest because it’s income.

I headed out to the job this afternoon and read a little on the way in. Anne had gone for a bottle run before I locked the place up. I got the empties and sat in the back in the front 20 with Chris and I doing ASB Winnipeg. It was slow. I called Anne at break and watched a bit of the Pens demolish the Canes. 7-4. From what I watched of it the game looked really good.

I ended up with $200 and a $15 CC sale. Not great but all they wanted was 2 sales an hour. I got that, barely. I waited for my train and read a bit of “Legend” on the way home. I have about 50 pages left and I should have it read by Friday night. And the first day we don’t get any pay cheques. From now on paydays are Fridays.

I’ve been trying to call my buddy Charles over the last 8 weeks or so and finally I get his cell. He’s been laid up in the Hospital for 3 days suffering from severe headaches. They did an MRI scan on him and he’s supposed to know what’s going on by tomorrow. I’ll call him Saturday and see what’s happening and if he’s up for a visitor.

Over there at SF Signal, they have a great post titled “What SF/F/H title would you give your friends who aren’t ordinarily into SF/F/H type books? Huh? That’s a new one! SF = Science Fiction (I can grasp this) F = Fantasy (ditto) H = Horror (Stand alone, I can grasp this too) but SF/F/H? it’s getting silly now. What. Is the connection between Horror and Science Fiction? Even Fantasy has no correlation to Science Fiction when you break it down. An examination of all the different sub genres in mystery might be in order. There are Science, (science fiction) Characteristics: Military science fiction, Movements: Christian science fiction, Eras: Cyberpunk, and combinations: science fantasy. The complete list is found here. The whole genre has 30 different types of science fiction types and cross-over’s. It’s all pretty over whelming at times.

Anyway gang, that’s all for now
