A fitting post to end off a lousy week |
|
Getting 8 hours of sleep before I became diabetic has never been a problem for me. Except for the last several years now I’ve been taking a gravel pill that makes me drowsy enough to assist sleep. It’s not a good idea to take one of these babies if you have to go to work the next morning. I took mine this morning about 3 am and it pays me back with about 9-10 ours of much needed sleep. Also leaving me on the groggy side s well.
Not much is going on this afternoon, maybe I can get some reading done out of “In Conquest born.” I’d like to at least reach the mid way part of the book this week.
What’s keeping me from enjoying this book lately is the job related stress I’m facing at work lately. What job doesn’t give stress right? There always has to be something. Working in a call center operation like I’ve been doing over the last 8 and a half years is beginning to take it’s toll on me. It’s time to get out of this industry. Yes some call center jobs are better then others and the pay is decent enough on the better ones. The one I’m looking at sounds pretty good and pays well, if I can find its telephone number. If I can’t get anything on that end then I’ll be checking out the security guard thing or another call center. Anything to get out of what I’m doing now. On my terms of course. What I like about my current job is the people I work with and the charities we call for and getting that pay cheque every Friday is a plus as well. The job has it’s fun moments and the industry has its own complications to add on top of it. A security guard job is lonely and boring. Yes you can break up the monotony with a book and a radio or what ever and there’s just so much of that you can do.
The idea was to go for the 6:50pm showing of the new Star Trek movie this evening since the last time we attempted to see this was 2 weeks ago but Anne had the wrong theater for her free pass. This was my first time in the Clairview movies cinema even though it’s been around since about 1996. I liked our theater #4 as it had stadium seating. Not deep stadium type seating but close enough for its seat capacity with a decent size screen. The movie was getting good and I was really enjoying the great camera angles. And getting into the plot of the movie. I was really enjoying it until the ice planet world and the lights in the theater went dark. We had sound but no film. WTF? After a 10 minute wait everything went dead. The theater staff explained that a bulb or something in the projector went dead so after standing inline they gave us each 2 free passes. To say we were disappointed is an understatement but they have $5 movie Tuesday. Whenever there’s something worthwhile to see and I have some cash I‘ll go see something.
But this evenings attempt to see Star Trek was just to cap off an already lousy weekend. Now tomorrow morning I got to get on the phone and make phone calls. Firstly I’ve got to find the phone number for a call center job I’ve been looking at lately and its like finding a needle in a haystack. Then I’ve got to call payroll in Calgary and find out what’s going on with my vacation pay. If I can get a hold of anyone in payroll. Then I’ve got to go into work and get shit from Rob for my lousy effort on Saturday. I might end up even terminated from my job or at least suspended. That, I wouldn’t mind so much. I might be able to draw EI while being suspended “until we’re done with this campaign,” The only good thing about this weekend was I got my 2 books from Audrey’s and a night off to myself.
The call center job I’m trying to get had an email address but it wasn’t working. I found another email address and I emailed asking for a contact phone number and street address. I might get a reply I don’t know but I have a phone number for what I think is the place but it didn’t sound like it to me. I Haven’t tried survey work at all yet but that has possibilities. There are a few high end call center jobs I might apply for but this is heavy duty stuff and needs training. Hopefully I’ll have a better week this week.
Anyway gang, that’s all for now
