I know, I do go on sometimes don't I? |
|
I went to my job and brought the 6/49 ticket with me into the pharmacy. There has to be 2 numbers and the bonus number has to be in there. Lets say I pick, 8,22, 39 and the bonus number is 39. Then I’d get the $5. Which I didn’t win. If I get any 3 matching numbers then its $10. I usually win $10 a couple of times/year on this thing.
I got upstairs and the guys from the afternoon shift had collected a bunch of empties for me centered around Patrick’s dialer, like a Shrine. Thanks guys. They fended off Fran for me as well as she lurks around picking up the empties. It was all kind of funny but I got about 10 empties out of that and a bunch more from family. I got a headset and box from business and set myself up in good old station 15. Bm was about as I was reading at my station laughing and kibitzing with the staff ignoring me. That’s a good sign. Super never moved me and my first sale was a CC sale. I was off to a good start. It was slow after that. Really slow and Super’s “Deputy” never came down on people to pick up their totals. Nor was I moved after 7pm in the 2nd half. I got the rest of the empties at break. I decided as far as the vacation pay goes I’m going to give my company the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there was an overpayment I didn’t know about. Consider how many empties I usually bring home with me each night, its quite a lot. I really don’t have anything to complain about. Even though I only did about $134 and a $15 CC, I felt a little better about the night even though for the most part I was struggling. Nobody said anything or came down on me for a lousy total-yet.
I was glad to get out of the office just the same. It was a beautiful evening at 9pm and I felt pretty good crossing the street and seeing a jack rabbit a few feet away from me forging for food and a Robin fluttering around. I felt good to be alive, I really did. I had a bit of a wait for my train home and I read a bit more from “In Conquest born” but I put the book away and had a chat with a fellow from Palestine. Nice fellow. I got my bus at 9:40pm at Clairview still light outside with the Sun going down. I felt serene on the bus ride home and once I crossed the street there was Anne smiling walking towards me surprised at all the empties I got. She went with a couple of bags of empties earlier and cashed them in for about $18. So in light of all that I’m dropping my saber rattling about vacation pay. We’re getting about $20/week from empties just from what I take home every week, which is about $80-$100/month. I can’t complain. How long this will last I don’t know. Anne made some of her homemade pizza and we watched the news and some of ET tonight, (there was MVP from WWE) odd.
Lately I wanted to talk about racism but until now had not had a chance to discuss this. And not just any kind of racism either but about Antisemitism. Semitic was a form of language a smaller part of the Afro-Asiatic language. Antisemitism indicates a prejudice or hostility towards Jews. I worked with Jewish people all my life. I treat Jewish people no different then anyone else. Most Antisemitism in today’s vocabulary indicates the holocaust of WW2. Don’t get me wrong, The holocaust was a horrible chapter in human history. Hatred or prejudice towards any culture or people does not belong in my vocabulary. Never has been. But to suggest that Antisemitism was manufactured out of WW2 and a holocaust term only is erroneous. Antisemitism has been around a lot longer then the holocaust of WW2 my friends. Extreme instances of persecution of Jews began in the First Crusade of 1096, the expulsion of Jews from England in 1290, the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion from Spain in 1492, the expulsion from Portugal in 1497, various pogroms, and perhaps the most infamous, the holocaust under Adolph Hitler's Nazi Germany. We should never forget what Hitler did to the Jews. But lets not also forget that there were about 6 million Jews that were starved to death in 1919 in the Ukraine years before Hitler. i know it's not the same thing. At the same time history needs to realize that Stalin murdered more Jews then Hitler ever did. Some sources suggest around 22 million Jews were murdered by Stalin. That doesn’t excuse Hitler. All I’m saying here is that Antisemitism didn’t begin and end with Adolph Hitler and the Nazi’s. Why is it though that the Jewish culture is so transfixed on the holocaust of WW2? Because the ww2 holocaust was a recent holocaust. Lets hope we never have another one and lets hope we've learned something from it. The human race needs to grow up. I agree we need to be reminded that Antisemitism has no place in a society especially one that needs to embrace the stars for our survival. If we need to overcome being a type 0 civilization as Doctor Micho Kaku states, to a type 1 civilization we need to treat all people as equal. The Israeli Government need to treat their bordering neighbors with respect and so do the Palestinian people need to respect their Israeli neighbors. This cycle of hate needs to end. Yes we still need to be reminded of the holocaust of WW2 so that we don’t get another Hitler ever again and there is no guarantee another Hitler isn't somewhere lurking just around the corner either. Hitler believed the German people were the master Race. What hog wash. The Master Race, the chosen ones no matter which you slice and dice it ammounts to the same thing. Yet we also need to think about the future and not be held captive from our past if we're ever going to get beyind the cycle of hate mentality…………………12:45pm> Saturday is the first day of Summer. Excellent. We’re getting rain in the forecast a bit at a time in tiny doses. My wife went over here to “Exes Cargo” beside Empire Theater to buy a new vacuum cleaner. She claims the exact same thing at Walmart is $150 something and this one (not refurbished) is for $89. We’ve bought other things from Exes Cargo before and we usually get lemons. Stuff that breaks within a week. Their stuff is mostly crap but my wife needs a new vacuum cleaner. She thinks she’s getting a deal. We’ll see.
I didn’t sleep very well over night but before bed since I’m off Saturday Anne’s going to give me another pill.
If I get my expected bonus money on my cheque (yeah right) then Saturday I’m off down to Audrey’s. Chances are I’ll get $20 tonight but this week isn’t a full week, next week is. If I still got a job. But even so, I’m going down to get something. If (and I know it’s a long shot) I get all my bonus money from last week on my cheque (when I was writing big numbers) then I’m going down to Audrey’s and reduce my special order significantly. I’m 2 books away from cashing in on $20 on my club membership. I can for instance buy the 2 Jim Butcher novels and I can cash in my club points. Then I can apply the $20 along with another $10 and get Dragonlance “Annotated Legends” book. If I’ve got about $35 I can do that. That’s the idea. If I get all my bonus money then I’ll pick up the other Jim Butcher Dresden novel. That’s the last time I’m going to place a large order like that again. Up next, it’s going to be maybe 6 books at a time.
Ok new development, Anne said if I have bonus money I can get anything over and if I get the full amount of bonus money I can have that and her bank card because its her pay week and I can go right over to Audrey’s after work and get my books from her bank card. Actually I have $19.20 on my account. That means I’m 1 book away from cashing in on my club points. So I’ll buy book 1 of the Dresden files and then that should put me over the $20 mark and then I can buy “The Annotated legends.” Good stuff. But if I get the $50 (and that’s a big if) then I can get the Dresden book plus $10 towards the Legends book and buy the other 2 Dresden books. Something like that. All it means is that Anne gets the bus pass and I’m home all day.
I know there have been a couple of long posts this week that’s because there’s been a lot going on. I’ll probably pop in here again after work on Sunday night or post on my Blogger or LJ pages. We’ll see.
Anyway gang, that’s all for now
