It's been a hell of a week

The other thing that disturbs me about the Michael Jackson event yesterday is that both Joe Strummer and Michael Jackson died at home and both died at the age of 50 and of heart related deaths. That in itself is interesting.

Yesterday marks another anniversary for me in that it was 29 years ago yesterday I left the Meyer place. It was a real ugly scene when I left but I had a cab waiting and my bags packed trying to avoid Mr. Meyer sneaking out the door in that hot June sun after work. Unfortunatly I encountered him and he tried to detain me but I barged my way past him and out to the cab. I still have a copy of the letter I wrote him. By 5:30pm that afternoon I was in my new place never to see Mr. Meyer again!

Ok onto other things. Tonight I'm off to do the job thing again. Good news is I'll get my pay cheaque and then I have all day Saturday off.

>I'm still reading "In Conquest born." This is science fiction at it's best folks. I'm enjoying it so much that I'm heading right on into its sequel, "The Wilding." There's so much good writing here. I've read a lot of SFF in my 56 years, since reading it in 1970 and C.S. Friedman deserves to be within the top 10 of my all time favorite authors. Who needs TV when there's so much good books to read.

This time last year the Nisku yards just outside of Edmonton were bustling with activity. There were about 50,000 workers on the site where as today there is something like 10,000. In a surprise move the Province is giving over a billion dollars in tax breaks to get the oil and insdustry moving here again. nobody knows right now what if any short term affect it will have but lets hope it's positive.
