Some more photo's from Sundays trip to Jasper |
|
I left out of here at my usual time for the office yesterday afternoon and brought a bit of cash to give to Greg to pay off that hockey bet and $2 to pay DC the $2 CFL football bet. I got a lot of cans and empties and settled in at #15. They “reset” the CFK list and wanted $180 l/h out of everybody. Yeah right. Well I was surprisingly at l/h by 7pm as I had $400 at break and no CC sales. So, I collected a few more empties and got a good haul. My sales were coming in slow in the 2nd half. I was at l/h right up until 8pm, then it fell apart and sales wise went downhill from there. By the end of the night I was at $665 even though management was saying otherwise. “Numbers don’t lie” but the software does or is fucked up.
Here are post some more photos of my trip to Jasper on Sunday. Anne took this photo of me in Jasper. She’s take some good shots in the car as well on Sunday.
This next photo is of Anne and I with a bear. I’m holding a bottle of diet Pepsi in my right hand and my ball cap in between my side and my arm. I can’t recall what the name of the gift shop was though.
Here Anne and I are posing with some kind of animal. Not sure exactly what it is I just thought it was cute. The shop is obviously called Baxter’s. We were in it looking around for a ball cap that said Jasper Alberta. There were a few but i couldn't see spending $15 bucks on a ball cap even though I look kind of goofy in that worn gene hat. I don't like ball caps that have logos on them with the exception of the Oilers or Eskimos but something told me I doubt I'd find anything like that way out here.
This is a great shot Anne took inside the car as we’re heading into Jasper itself. Such a great shot of these majestic mountains. I'm surprised it turned out as good as it did while we're moving something like 110kmh and inside the car. This photo reminds me of a scene in Star trek, the original series with the rugged peaks. It looks kind of alien like it belongs on another planet of some kind. it's a cool photo, thanks Anne.
The silver train in the background is called Via Rail and I took this exact same train in 1978 stretching out my legs August 15th 1978 about this same time of day 31 years ago. i doubt much has changed if I took a photo from this point and compared the 2. I’m sure the train has changed a little but maybe not since we’re still using the same cars on our LRT system that have been around since the same time.
And finally me in the front seat. Anne was trying to get my attention with a flash but seeing the lake and the mountain beyond I was otherwise occupied.
There are a lot more photos I could put up here but I think you get the general idea. I liked everything about Jasper and as far as the towns along the way to Jasper but I liked Edson better then Hinton. The thing about Jasper even though there aren't a lot of high Alpine type mountains, the Rockies start here so the real high Alpine peaks are in Banff and into Colorado that's where the real action is between those 2 places as far as high Alpine type mountains go. I haven't been in Banff only to drive through it but i'd loke to go to Banff soon as well.
Anyway after I left the office last night it had been raining slightly but I got to Corona station and had a brief wait for my train and had a chat with Peter waiting for his South side train. About 9:18pm my train came along and I got a seat by myself and read my book until the train pulled into Clairview. I was home about 9:45pm. Anne had been out but returned shortly after I got home while I was watching Monday night Raw. Raw wasn’t bad. On a scale from 1-10 I’d rate the show at a 6. Anne made me some supper and we watched Raw. I had a good night. On a scale from 1-10 itself, my night was about a 7.
Next time Donna is supposed to be coming back this way to Edmonton for work wont be until about August 4th or so. It’s always nice to have her by.
Some news going around the Blogsphere. Poor SF Signal, their comments section isn’t working. Also from AF Signal its been confirmed that the new Star Wars live action is in pre-production mode and will be filmed in Australia. Relationships and emotional landscapes? Huh? Also from Monday in i09 they’re talking about “Iron man 2”, what? I haven’t seen the first Iron man. There’s a link to this in my list of links. I’m too lazy to list it here today.
My friend Robert J Sawyer should like this exhibit. It’s called “Walking with Dinosaurs” and it’s going to be at Rexall place coming up July 22nd-July 26th. That’s going to be 5 days of Dinosaurs. I’m not really into Dinosaurs and ticket prices are going to range from $80-$220 bucks, yikes!
Over there at Pats hotlist he’s asking the readership what book we should convince him of reading. Guess what the first book cover was? “ What I’m currently reading now: “In Conquest Born.” I let him know there is a sequel called “The Wilding.” Just a heads up…………12;50pm> Finally we’re getting some rain out there and its been coming down steady all night. We’re expecting between 40-60mm over today and tomorrow. We usually get about 155mm of rain a year here so this is most welcomed.
I had a fairly good sleep overnight except my wife roaming around in bed keeping me awake. She’s got a bad ankle causing her some grief. I slept ok. Not great but I got what I needed. I’m glad we got the rain because about 7:30 in the morning we get this blast of Sunlight for about half an hour stabbing into the darkness. I like it dark cool and dry for sleeping.
As I write this they are holding the memorial service so the fans can say goodbye to Michael Jackson. The media didn’t cover half as much as this when Elvis died or John Lennon. Mainly because we never had the media coverage and the technology like we do today. I’d have to agree that Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer in history. I even liked some of his music although I wasn’t a fan.
Today its back to the grind and into work for my 5-9. More like 4-10 because I don’t get back until 9:45pm or so. It can be a long night. I hope you enjoy the photos
Anyway gang, that’s about all for now………..
