Its Wednesday.......again

Anne left out of here about 2pm with her sister and I held down the fort having a can of stew for lunch. I’m fooling around with Proline. It’s legal betting sports teams. I used to play the over/under hockey and got pretty good at it but lost interest in it after the mid 1990’s. Now we have sites like Cover’s.com that take sports betting to a whole new level. The day staff guys were into it during the NBA season but they might pick it up again when the NFL season starts up soon. Right now I’m following MLB and the CFL. I picked 3 games and put $2 on the ticket: Baltimore/Detroit Minneapolis/Cleveland and Milwaukee/LA Dodgers. I got two games right and the Baltimore game I think Baltimore won. I can’t recall what the pay out was. I’m just trying to win enough games to help me pay for SFF books, that’s all. I’m no big player in this. Maybe once a week or so. My games on Saturday afternoon are CFL- Edmonton/Hamilton (Edmonton to win) Winnipeg/Calgary (Calgary to win) and Baltimore at Toronto (Toronto to win)

I had a pleasant ride into work. There’s some more construction by the Hotel just over here. Construction going on by the vacant trailer park grounds. There’s construction by Belvedere station East and of course Station point is still going on. Then there’s the baseball diamond construction just by Rexall place. Off in the distance there’s about 4 cranes towering up into the sky. Plus there’s active LRT expansion all kinds of stuff going on. If there’s a recession going on you wouldn’t know it around here. There is one of course if your unemployed. Speaking of which July unemployment figures wont be released for another couple of weeks yet but it is summer. I feel for all the trade students that two years ago when the economy was fine took courses at Nait now about ready to enter into the job market might find themselves without work. Hopefully unemployment numbers will drop back down to around at least 4%.

I had a great start to the shift tonight. I had 2 cards and about $300 in sales. Super moved me to the back and we did all kinds of stuff. Plus the computers were down off and all night but I ended up with a whack of empties and a $17 bonus for my trouble. I even got a $200 sale when we did CDIH. I had a great night. I even read a little more out of “The Wilding.”

I couldn’t reach Anne coming home on the train and I had the night off to myself until about 11pm. Anne made me a cheeseburger and homemade fries. Good stuff. What’s this Charlie Huddy 5 time Edmonton Oiler Stanley Cup champ now behind the bench with Dallas? Sigh.

Over there at Pats Fantasy Hotlist he’s got some news about the “Altered Carbon” film project or rather the wannabe film project. I’ve never read any of Richard Morgan’s work before but now this has me interested. I’d like to pick this book up and see this when and if the film comes out. The premise for the proposed film reminds me of Robert J Sawyer’s novel “Mindscan.”

After lunch I did some piano practice. I know “Twinkle, Twinkle little star”

Pretty good with the right hand but tonight I thought I’d try my hand at putting the chords together. It’s not as easy as it looks. But I’m making some progress.

Oh and I bought myself a 6/49 ticket for Wednesday nights big $35M draw. If nobody wins it tonight, the jackpot could go as high as $45M!…………..1:05pm> Not a lot going on today except my test picks for tonight’s MLB games and the 6/49 jackpot. I’m currently memorizing the FC exam work for the candidate in September. It largely builds on the EA exam with a few exceptions which for obvious reasons I wont get into here.

Anyway gang, that‘s all for now.
