Badly needed time by myself today

I woke up from a restless sleep about 10:30am yesterday and laid in bed dozing off here and there. I finally got out of bed about noon not feeling very refreshed. We had Boots over night and when I came in with my coffee it seemed he had jumped off the balcony to go off to who knows where around dawns early light. Anne was up about 2:30pm did her stuff and then ordered us a Pizza 4 pack with her staff discount before she headed out to work to leave me home alone on a Saturday night.

Coast had another lame show for a Friday night. “Death Premonitions & Open Lines.” Boring. Tonight’s show is a little better talking about technologies that are just around the corner.

I enjoyed my pizza and I have one more there, I’m going to have in about half an hour while watching the evening news.

From 5pm to just after 8pm however I was entertained by watching the Edmonton Eskimo’s play catch up all night long hosting Hamilton at Commonwealth. With about a minute left on the clock Hamilton was leading 30-28. The Esks looked like they had the last play of the game and within field goal range The kick was good from about 40 yards away making it 31-30 Eskimo’s with seconds on the clock. Then just when it looked like (Hamilton’s ball) they were going to catch a long ball into the end zone, the Esks get an interception. Talk about luck and a real heart breaker for the Tiger Cats. That was one of the most wildest CFL games I’ve ever seen.

Hey, this from SF Signal: @Spider on the Web: "A Saucer of Loneliness and Suicide" by Theodore Sturgeon, read by Spider Robinson. Spider Robinson will be paying us a visit at Pure Speculation in October. Good stuff.

Some exciting movement going around from the Katz group and a new arena. Now it’s 2 arenas hotels and student housing in a billion dollar development. More news will be announced in the next few weeks. People are worried that the City will use tax payers money. But the City wants to use a controversial levy called a TFI levy which means that the City could own the development in which case there would be no property tax. But it’s getting really interesting. Edmonton has one of the oldest if not the oldest arena in the NHL. Nothing wrong with Rexall place but if this goes ahead and the katz group can put shovels in the ground this year then this will be a huge boon for the city.

Speaking about economic news and all, announced last Tuesday the US State department ok’d a 1,000 mile pipeline from Alberta oil sands from Hardisty to Superior Wisconsin. The only snag in getting this project started could be environmental and native groups attempting to derail the project.

Alas I did not win the 6/49. I didn’t even get 1 number for a $4,178,217.00 prize last night. That would have been $2,089,109 each between my wife and I. I decided what I’m going to do is to play once a week. Get my ticket on a Thursday or Friday for Saturday’s draw. However if nobody wins Saturday’s draw then I’ll play again on the following Wednesday until I win or somebody else does.

I’m up at noon later and out of here at 1pm to go get a book from my stack. Thing is I owe George $15 for the Lodge book from last spring and I need to square that away and I’ll have $5 for the festive board. Then it’s in for my 4 hours. This week I’m focused to get 33 hours in even though this Thursday is Lodge night. I hope to have 33 hours, that’s if I don’t get pulled off my dialer after for a low afternoon total. They could do that at anytime. I’ll do what I can.

Anyway gang, that’s about all for now

Jim
