I was in bed by 2am and had a decent sleep not even waiting for my cell phone alarm to sound off. I had a shower, shave and a coffee and got ready to meet Nathan out in the parking lot. I locked everything up taking a 500Ml liter of diet Pepsi along with me and there was Nathan in his little Jetta right on time. The weather was partially overcast and mild. We had a great turnout of about 10 of us. I didn’t need a rehearsal of my part. I know my lines. And we’re only having 1 Candidate. But on my way to Lodge I discovered that I have about 6 lines in the FC part of the MM degree what me being the 2^nd FC/3. Yikes, I better get cracking then. We were only in the Temple for about an hour and a half or so. Other brothers from other lodges were using the space as well and were in the banquet area. See link below photo.

I got home about 11:20am and climbed back into bed with my wife still sleeping. I don’t think she even knew I had left! I got about 3 extra hours of sleep and I feel pretty good. Anne’s doing some vacuuming and making breakfast. She’s working from 8-midnight. Good stuff. This means I have another evening to myself. I got a big ol bag of chips she bought for me and I’m reading all night, good stuff.

Right now, I’m downloading from YouTube a nice long series on Immanuel Kant from the Giants of Philosophy. Kant was one of my favorite philosophers next to Hobb, Descartes and Sartre. Kant especially because he gave us the term Phenomena perceived by the senses. And how we can not know an object in itself. Some of my own SFF writing is inspired by Kant. This is a great series in 16 parts.

It’s snowing off and on all day and not to cold out there either. Perfect day to go out for a walk. I like nice fall days like this. Next weekend our weather is supposed to get +14/+8 Friday and Saturday. Nice and were supposed to hold a steady +4 or so until the rest of October. After that I don’t care.

Last nights Oiler game was excellent but the Habs were coming on strong near the end of the 3^rd and I could feel another Oiler unlucky bounce again. That’s 5 in 4 games. I’d like to see Cogliano get it going again. Speaking of sports there is also a Bomber/Hamilton game going on for tomorrow. I love long weekends,

Accidental pleasant surprises are few and far between but they are great when they happen. That’s why I was surprised when I learned that Ellen Datlow’s new anthology Lovecraft unbound is out in paperback. Good stuff. I love reading traditional horror. Not this blood and gore crap that appeals to the teens. It’s nice to see this book out and in the MMP format. Wuwho!

Anne made us a great brunch/supper. She’s cleaning up getting ready to leave for a 4 hour Sunday night shift. As for me, I’m hunkering down holding the fort. If I had $20 bucks to waste, I’d go down to Century and play some black jack. Try my luck at the tables.
