2012, books, cats and other things

Anne said it was standing room only at the “2012” movie down here at the Empire theaters last night. Anne got home shortly after midnight. It’s about 1,000 feet away from where I’m sitting. Anne said she liked the movie. For $10 bucks she not only saw a first run movie but had a big bag of popcorn and a large drink. Good deal.

I had a pretty good night on the job. I ended up at the dialer I had last night. One of the new fellows vacated it for me. Good stuff. I ended up with a good haul of empties and 4 cards for a total of $595 and $235 on credit cards. But they make it really tough to get any bonus money lately. I was lucky last week I got $20 for this weeks paycheck and you really have to hustle to get any bonus money these days. Management doesn’t make it easy.

Just now I did a Google search for a bust to Spectrum race track entrance as the plan is to get to Northalnds park for Sunday’s races 1-5pm. I’m bringing $20 with me. The shuttle bus is for free and leaves at Stadium station about 12:30pm. So I can leave out of here at noon and I can bring a bottle of cola with me for the afternoon. So this weekend I’m going to opt out for a book at Audrey's and instead Sunday I’m going to go for my first time to the race track with Warren and Kyle from work and bring $20 along with me.

Tonight on Coast the topic is on cell phones and how their use is turning us into a zombie nation. Valley scalley kids. As Count Floyd would say.

We’ve been having an exceptional weeks worth of fair weather lately, so far. Today we got up to +17 as this photo taken from my TV this afternoon shows.

Its really strange and when I was at Clairview LRT on my way into work the temperature dropped half of its value within half an hour but it was really nice coming home from work earlier last night.

I’m really having trouble getting into this book “The Family tree.” There’s 3 main story arcs going on here but only one of them is making any sense to me. I’m not going to give up on this story but man, on a cale from 1-10 so far, I’d give this book a 4 and I’m already at page 121. If the story continues on like this it’s going to take a long time for me to finish reading this thing.

Speaking of books, I took this photo of Sporty in his favorite spot while being in lock down with Sparky and Silky. When we’re in lock down that means Boots is out in the living room and the other cats are in here with me behind closed doors. Sporty is guarding dads recent selection of books he's leaning against. His eyes are actually blue. It's the camera's flash that make them orange in this photo.

Right now the Edmonton Oiler’s are a struggling hockey team. At 8-10-3 the copper and blue aren’t looking so great. So tonight the boys get to play host to the Avs and they desperately need a win at home. Their last road trip wsn’t that great 2 points and 2 losses.

Over there at Goodreads I’m a member of the “Sci-fi fantasy book club” and since I’ve been interested in audio books, recently I began a thread about audio books to ask the question "Is an audio book the same as reading a book?" I got 23 comments and the overall consensus is yes. You can read more the responses here
