Mid week blahs

I don’t have to go in until Friday afternoon. Why this makes more sense is because my wife is going to give me my “allowance” Thursday. This way I have some cash to work with Friday afternoon/evening.

Now, heading into work today was a little better then yesterday even though the wind was still up. I wasn’t about to get comfortable in the office but I did collect some empties, I was given a gesture to make my way into the back. Though I feel management dropped the ball putting 9 of us onto Magic. That’s why the numbers were so low. I got 2 cards and $370. I got some more empties and left with no bonus money. The expectations were to high.

I felt alright heading home but I just wanted to be left alone on the train ride home, kind of feeling letdown about the stale night I had.

I was checking Edmonton Google Earth street view and wanted to learn when they were photographing around the city downtown core. Apparently on the Connect to Edmonton board this would have been Thursday April 17th a week before RJS was here. I went to check on the only outside clock I knew of at Corona station at the optical department and the clock was captured to read 2:25pm. How’s that for accuracy! I wish they had this technology 30 years ago. With Google Street View I went back to my old stomping grounds along 156th street 97th Ave here in Edmonton. Not much has changed since I last live there back in 1997 when I first got Silky 12 years ago. A few trees have grown but the neighborhood looks much the same but I noticed the Dairy Queen is still there by the Burger Baron missing. Most of my old stomping grounds remains as it was from 1980. Not much has changed other then when the Grant MacEwan college and the Gold Nugget gas station was turned into a Petro Can in 1995. One thing that also surprised me is that the old FDY building is now a girl guide center. That was where I worked when I got Pledges in 1991 and even the name wall is still there we worked to help raise funds for. Another 20 years will go buy and the area will most likely be the same.

I slept alright from about 4:30am until about 8am. After that I dozed off here and there. I got enough sleep. Anne and I are leaving out of here for Best buy about noon tomorrow to pick up that laptop. They may even have some in store specials as well not advertised on line for the season rush.

Looks like a nice day out there though a bit cold. The weather channel is calling for a -20 next week sometime with a few -16’s in there as well. We haven’t got any severe winter yet and there’s not much snow on the ground.

We haven’t had a major snow fall yet.

Anyway, I’m going back to read “Rainbows End.” I want to try and read up to the midway part of the book by Sunday night.
