Yeesh, what a week! |

Wu-who!!! I finally won a book give-a-way from Pats Fantasy hotlist! I entered for the Aleister Reynolds “Thousandth Night & Minla's Flowers” contest. I think this was taken from one of Reynolds short stories of a few years ago. Finally I win a book give-a-way! Great news.
When I woke up yesterday about noon we were met with a ton of snow. I called Audrey’s and 3 of the “Recluse” series were in I‘d ordered a week ago. It was still snowing outside even on my 4pm LRT commute. Luckily for me city transit was still running. Lucky still for the LRT into Corona. Snow removal workers were busy with shovels on sidewalks all around the Corona station area.
Heading towards the office was slow going trudging through the snow. I got into the pharmacy and bought a 6/49 ticket for tonight’s $29M draw. Speaking of which on the news last night there was this store owner somewhere back east here in Canada that sold a ticket. The store owner claimed the ticket holder didn’t win and held onto the ticket (lotto fraud) and claimed it for themselves. They bought cars, houses etc. An investigation finally caught up with them and they were dealt with just recently. The rightful owners of the ticket were awarded with the jackpot plus interest.
This time it was only 4 of us doing Magic and as usual I had a slow start but I got a card and I ended up with $305 on the night plus a few empties and my paycheck. No bonus money all week but today I‘m working the extra hours, I‘ll get 21 hours in for this week.
The wind had picked up significantly as I worked my way through the open parkade to Audrey‘s leaving from work last night at 8:30pm. It was gusting in some places at about 80 knots but the temperature was “warm.” It wasn’t like a wind-chill or anything. I had on this heavy black baseball type hat that covered my ears making me look weird. I should have brought my face mask.
I got inside Audrey’s and went down for my book. I got the first book in the series. “The magic of the recluse.” It’s in the first person as well, which I like. One of the senior staff there at Audrey’s said they had L.E. Modesitt, Jr. in the store for a reading years ago. This was before I became a regular at Audrey’s, damn I woulld have liked to have met him.
I had a ten minute wait for my bus outside but again it wasn’t too cold as I was all bundled up. I did my banking and the wait was longer for the train home at Central then the bus outside Audrey’s. I got home later then usual about 10pm and watched a bit of Smackdown. Anne made us a very nice Ruben sandwich and fries. We watched some local news, she went up to Walmart and I headed for bed finally getting about 5 hours sleep.
A slight change in plans since the winter storm developed before noon Friday. The original idea was to head over to Best Buy this afternoon after work but since city road conditions are treacherous we decided to delay the trip to Best Buy until Sunday afternoon once the city clears the roads etc. We’ll leave about noon and take the South Campus train to the end of the line, catch the Southgate #6 and then the #74. We should get there by 3pm-ish. Sunday traffic what it is and after a major snow storm might be a tad problematic.
So then it’s soon off for my Saturday morning commute and I’ll get some breakfast at Tim’s. At the 2pm break I’ll call Best Buy and arrange to be in the store for the Acer and router swap. Hopefully because of the swap as it’s an in store situation the Geek-squad set up won’t cost us anything. Then after that it’s off to the Sawmill as there is one nearby, which requires a shuttle bus. We'll be having our anivesary dinner there. We probably wont get home until 7pm Sunday night. That’s going to be a long day.
But if I can get that all arranged at the 2pm break then after work today, I’ll just head home and watch a little vintage wrestling and have a nap. There’s an Oiler/Hawk’s game on TV this afternoon at noon we’ll be watching. The 2 hours after the 2nd half today will go by fast. Uggh, what a week. Lets go Oiler's !
