    My first Christmas without Pledges
    Saturday, December 26 2009 @ 07:13 PM MST
    Contributed by: ejim_shan

Well into day 2 of 3 off with and my first Christmas without Pledges. I miss him everyday. I got up about 1pm this afternoon as Anne was well into her shift. Her sister Pat called and I had a brief chat with her. Anne should be off duty by the time I post this but she wants to go to do some shopping at Superstore across the street before she comes home.

As for me I‘ve been having an enjoyable time watching 3 Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce all afternoon on Turner. The ones I watched were the last 3 of the movies from the above two actors. Imagine if Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson had full internet I phones!

Tonight I’m relaxing until the Oiler’s/Vancouver game is on at 8pm and that’s going to carry me until about 10pm.

One of my big health projects this year will be to reduce my cholesterol intake. One of the big culprits are potato chips and one of my New Year’s resolution is to take potato chips out of my diet. I eat oatmeal everyday and I’ve been asking Anne to get us some Metamucil not just for heart and cholesterol but it helps to lower blood sugar levels as well. For 2010 I’m going to be more health conscious.

I can’t believe I read 12 books this year. That’s been a record for me and some of these novels have been Omnibuses as well and some have been quite large. I took this Photo (found my camera) of all the SFF books I read this year for 2009. You can use your picture viewer to get a close up of the books spines.

At the moment as 2009 is about to come to a close, I’m reading a anthology: Science Fiction: The years best of 2006 by Rich Horton. I‘m still into the first couple of pages of the first story. I hope to have this read by January 16th or so. After that I go on to read Elizabeth Bear‘s “Dust.” This should take me up to the end of January and then I begin Karen Traviss’s 6 book Wes’Har series and this should take me up to about the end of April. Depending if the first book isn’t a chucker. That’s about all for today…
