nailed down. Notice the welcome block above. And I'm changing the font to this blog to Tahoma medium. I don't know about the color though. I kind of like white but I'll be playing around with this. I'm also going to work out a better logo then the above. The Blog title is going to change to: "I'm a baby boomer Sci-fi geek with a laptop." I'm going to replace the B&W image with something that more resembles this site and have the image along with my title. It's going to be an outdoor image as well, kind of. Anyway that's about all for now.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with this website... Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

We know it needs a make over that's for sure. And I'm not entirely pleased with my Blogger blog at the  moment either and it needs work. It needs a 3rd column that's for sure. My first reaction to the Terrafugia flying car was and still is, wow but at almost $200K a shot there are going to be a lot of people flying these things in about 5 years. Just search for it in YouTube. Sorry for my link woes. I wonder how many passengers it can carry?Anyway that's all for now.

I’m up earlier then usual this morning as I had trouble sleeping. I usually do on a Friday night Saturday morning. If I could put in Mon-Fri 8 hours I would but this kind of work is really draining on me for 8 hours/day for four days straight and then Friday for 7.5 might let me opt out for Saturday. I can manage 2 full days but more then that, I don’t know.

There wasn‘t a lot of coverage of the NHL draft other then the usual on TV but there was a lot of analysis on CHED radio. Even though the draft is important, it places the Oiler’s in good bargaining position for the July first free agent session coming up next week so there could be a lot of movement on the horizon with a lot of players.

At least I have my wifi working (more or less) on my Itouch so that’s a good thing. However why this isn’t working on my laptop, I don’t know. I’m sure it’s a simple configuration thing I’ve overlooked Vinny could correct like in five minutes and a few key strokes.

I’ve had my Xbox 360 for the last few years now and I’ve yet to get a lot of gaming done. I haven’t had a lot of money for games. I’d like to get “Fable 3,” the new “Raw vs. Smackdown 2011,” just to name a few. I’m looking at Xbox project natal but it looks like it could be a bit pricey.

I left out of here feeling somewhat tired but alright. I bought my breakfast at Tim’s and upstairs into the office. I had my breakfast and actually had a decent day on the job and got 4 CC sales as well. We had 18 people in the office. Jerry wasn’t there. There was no 4:30pm shift and no empties. The owners of the pop machine raised the prices up to $1.35 chocolate bars, $1.50, when I can get 2 for a buck across the street on my way in. After work I headed over to Audrey’s and picked up one of Steven Erikson’s, book 5 of the Malazan series. I already had book 6 and 7 was there as well plus the 2 Recluse books.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this site lately and what I want to do with it. I’m going to have this site as a review site, but not just for New SFF books but for audio stories and here’s the kicker, older books. Vintage books. I’m going to personal more over there in my blog at Blogger but at least I know in what direction I want to take this site. Anyway, that’s about all for now.

on at  the moment. I'm kind of drained from the job earlier.

Looks like we're in for some active weather out there. I'll most likely have a more substantial blog post Friday or Saturday.

On my way in for my commute though I was listening to a great podcast with Cory Doctorow talking about his new book "For the win" among other things. I have his first 2 books in my shelves  "Down and out in the magic Kingdom" and "Someone comes to town, someone leaves town." two books that are definitely on my immediate horizon. Anyway, that's about all for now.

Monday and the first day of summer Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

I’m having a pretty good day. I got just over 1,000 words on DS just about wrapping up Chapter 2. So far it’s going better the I expected.

Today is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.

Tonight I have 4 hours of work ahead of me. According to the boss this CFK campaign is supposed to have last a month. We’re in week four and when I go into the office this afternoon, the totals should be about $200-300. There might be the odd $500 one but not likely. By Saturday we should have $200 or so for a four hour shift.

Still no word on my little speaker dock for my Itouch. I’m expecting it around the middle of next month.

I didn’t make any arrangements to have Vinny over yesterday to fix my wifi situation but last night around 9pm it was up and running again. Wifi is up and running now, at least on my Itouch and I have all 115 episodes of X minus one as well thanks to one of the guys at work lending me a 4 Gb USB key. I’ve got some other apps as well and now I’m down to  just about 3.5 Gb of space on my Itouch.

Tonight is Monday Night Raw my usual bit of wrestling madness and Friday is NHL draft day. Who will the Oilers pick? Seguin or Hall? Anyway, that’s all for now.

I went to bed about Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

4am this morning after a heavy session of writing only to realize that the crap I wrote, wouldn't work. I hit the delete key and got rid of about a thousand words or so of nonsense. I kept the Prelude and reworked the opening Chapter. After I fired up the computer I began and got 2,000 words in this afternoon. All this before Doctor Who and Fathers day brunch. Hopefully this week, I'll have a progress meter bar up and running. Oh, hey...thought you all  might like to see a cute cat photo:

The above is a rare photograph of all my babies together in one shot. The dark kitty on the perch is Silky. I've had him since 1997. On the floor by the recliner is Sparky. and over there against the wall is Sporty his brother. Boots is here sequestered from all the others. My wife is in the kitchen cooking our brunch and Doctor who is half an hour away. Hope everyone is having a great fathers day, I know I am. Anyway, that's all for now.

    day ahead of me here.

I went to bed early but managed  only a few hours sleep. I've got a full day here. I'm in for the 12:30pm shift to make up for having Tuesday off. I don;t mind because I get my paycheck anyway and Anne's coming down at about 4:30pm to get my check so we can pay the balance of our rent for June. Anyway, that's about all for now.
